A customer from New York called in to ask for assistance with their Xerox WorkCentre 7830.
They recently moved the machine and since then, it’s stuck at the loading screen with a message: “System is powering on do not press the power button.”

Here are the steps performed until we resolved the issue.
- Prepared a Flash Drive with a Firmware and ALTBOOT File because there’s a possibility that we need to perform the Forced ALTBOOT Process before sending the technician onsite. (For the firmware used, please contact Clear Choice directly)
- Considering they moved the copier, there’s a possibility that the Connector of the Hard Drive got loose. Technician re-seated the connector and inspected the pins on the Main Board with same result.
- Forced ALTBOOT performed which will force the Firmware to be installed to the Hard drive but it posts “Software Upgrade Error”
- Hard Drive doesn’t spin when our technician checked.
- Hard Drive ordered and performed the Forced ALTBOOT process and it was able pick it up and successfully installed the Firmware.Prepared a Flash Drive with a Firmware and ALTBOOT File because there’s a possibility that we need to perform the Forced ALTBOOT Process before sending the technician onsite.
